Is PPF really worth the money or am I just falling for the hype?

I have been thinking about getting paint protection film for my car but I keep hesitating because it is not cheap. My car is about a year old now and the paint still looks good but I have already noticed a few small stone chips on the front bumper. Nothing major but it bothers me. A colleague told me I should get PPF before the damage gets worse. But another friend said it is a waste of money and I should just save the cash for actual repairs later. I am stuck in the middle. I started researching online and found paintprotectionfilm.ae which seems to have a lot of information about different options. But I wanted to hear from real people who have actually paid for this service. Did it genuinely protect your car or did you still get chips and scratches anyway? How long does the film last before it starts looking bad itself? I am worried about spending a lot of money and then having the film turn yellow or peel after a couple of years. Also does it really help with resale value or is that just something installers say to convince you? If any of you have had PPF on your car for a few years please share your honest experience. I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading.
