Ordered a single IBC spill pallet for our lubricant storage area in Jebel Ali and it showed up with a crack along one corner of the base, probably from the courier dropping it. The unit still holds shape and I tested it with some water, seems to hold fine for now, but a crack in a containment product feels like exactly the kind of thing that fails when you actually need it. I contacted the supplier and they offered a replacement but the pickup and redelivery will take at least a week and we have a municipality inspection coming up sooner than that. So now I am stuck between using a compromised unit temporarily or delaying the whole setup and risking a fine. Part of me thinks a small crack is not the end of the world for a dry storage area where nothing is actually leaking right now, but the other part knows that is exactly the kind of reasoning that bites you later. Has anyone here accepted a damaged unit and regretted it, or repaired a crack successfully with some kind of sealant? Also is it normal for these things to arrive damaged or did I just get unlucky with the freight company?
IBC pallet arrived damaged, is it worth the hassle of returning?
